This had previously been posted to the Facebook page back in February, but with the traffic that our main website still garners, here is the post from then now here:
This has been a few months coming and we thank you for your patience. We have an important announcement to make today.
We at Quinte Mini Con, QMC, would like to take this time to say goodbye. Yes, there will be no QMC 2018, making 2017 our 5th and final year.
It's been a fun five years being the Quinte Region's premier convention, but all good things must come to an end.
We made the decision to end QMC for a variety of reasons. Costs of running a convention, even in a small town like Belleville, are rising and it can be hard for a fan run event to keep up. In addition to this, all of us on the team have been struggling with things in our personal lives and trying to get our priorities straight for our futures.
We dedicated a lot of time for this convention since the initial planning back in late 2012/early 2013. We have had our ups and downs and we are so thankful to everyone who made it out for even one year. It's an experience we wouldn't trade for the world. We won't disappear 100%, you will still see our team elsewhere like attending our fellow Belleville conventions Quinte ToyCon and Quinte Horror Expo, and other conventions in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, etc. As well the local cosplay days will continue to go on.
This page will not be shutting down, we will be promoting local geeky events and sharing fun nerdy things for you all.
Before we finish off this long post, there are a few things from staff to be shared:
'Meeting new people was great and it was just a joy to attend each year 💖💖💖💖 thank you 💖💖💖'
- Hayley Yawney; Panel Coordinator & Registration
'These were a great 5 years! I'm soo glad I could help out where I could :)'
- Kaiden Brant; Volunteer Coordinator
'It seems crazy to think that when I got the idea to have a convention back in 2012, I honestly had no clue what to do, where to begin, or anything. I ran off of what I knew regarding conventions, and managed to make something that people had fun at and I was able to run this for five years for everyone with the help of dear friends. I will remember this time of QMC fondly, even with all the stress, and sit back and laugh at all the jokes, smile at the memories... I loved everything about this convention and what it grew to become over time. It may not have been big by any means, but it was big to me. Thank you all for making it a wonderful five years.'
- Gabrielle Wilson; Convention Chair
Share with us your memories of QMC over the last five years. We will miss you all and hope that you will continue to support the other local conventions of Quinte ToyCon and Quinte Horror Expo.

Extra, the jokes of the 5 years from guest Savage Bandito:
1 - Goose Go Home!
2 - That's My Trigger Word!
3 - Funny Joke!
4 - Some Kid
5 - 240 Praise It!
